by Nathan Yoder When forecasters projected hurricane Katrina's path to hit the gulf coast of Brett FavreŐs Home state of Mississippi, Brett became very concerned. BrettŐs mom, Bonita Favre, resides in Kiln, MS which is just a few miles from the coast. BrettŐs phone conversation with his mom was cut short due to 60 mph wind gusts. He was unable to reach her for about 30 hours and later heard there were 135 mph gusts. Once he was able to talk to her, she had to break the bad news that his childhood home was destroyed in the storm. She went on to describe how they had to climb into the attic and bust through the roof with a hatchet in order to escape the rising waters. Brett was relieved to hear from his mother but was saddened to hear that his childhood home was destroyed. Deanna Favre, BrettŐs wife, was at their home in Hattiesburg, MS with their two children, Brittany and Breleigh. Brett could not reach her either until late Monday. She was able to set some of his worries at ease when she confirmed that she and the children were okay. He became a little concerned though when he found out that all of the roads out were closed and Deanna could not get any supplies. Deanna went on to tell Brett that their house was full of family, friends, friends of friends, and friends of friends of friends. Once we heard about the total devastation of hurricane Katrina, www.officialbrettfavre.com teamed up with the Brett Favre Fourward Foundation to send aid to Mississippi. We have already begun shipping supplies out to Mississippi via a prop jet donated by Wisconsin Aviation. Sunday morning, September 4, a jet is planned to leave with necessities for the hurricane victims. You can now donate to the Brett Favre Fourward Foundation through the store on the website. One hundred percent of all donations go straight to the Brett Favre Fourward Foundation. Deanna Favre, the president of the Brett Favre Fourward Foundation, will disperse the funds and items to the appropriate organizations aiding hurricane victims in Mississippi. Here are some guidelines if you plan on donating an item. - Item must be new - No food or water items - Some things that will be needed - Chainsaws - Hand saws - Work gloves - Work boots - Tarps - Rope, Chains - First Aid kits - Anti-Bacterial hand wash We need items to aid in the clean-up process.
